ROCK THE FISH! A MUSICAL BENEFIT TO SUPPORT KENSINGTON THEATRE For Immediate Release: November 10, 2008
(November 10, 2008) On December 6, 2008 on the Frankford Avenue Arts Corridor get ready for a rollicking night of blues, ukes and rock all to benefit Fishtown/Kensington’s only nonprofit theatre company—B. Someday Productions. Rock the Fish brings famous and newbie artists together under one roof for one purpose—to support the programming at Walking Fish Theatre. Doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20 in advance/$25 at the door. Buy online at www.walkingfishtheatre.com. For information call 215-427-9255.
Headlining the Rock the Fish benefit will be a reunion of The Low Road (Quirky bohemian folk rockers with Americana stylings). Also on the bill are the Ukes of Earl (playing DuranDuran and the like on ukeleles), Medusa Sings the Blues (just as it sounds), New Pony (jamming blues). Entertaining in between musical sets will be the newest addition to the Walking Fish’s comedy lineup—High Dramma doing their irreverent sketch comedy. All proceeds from the evening’s events go to help fund programs of B. Someday’s such as the Family Theatre Series and Fun with Acting classes offered to young people in the Fishtown/Kensington area. "The community is really growing," says Stan Heleva, B. Someday’s Artistic Director, "but there are no arts offered in schools around here. And now, especially with the city’s budget cuts, our programs have even more relevance." Tickets for the December 6th Rock the Fish are $20 in advance (available on the website: www.walkingfishteatre.com "Ticket" button) and $25 at the door. Food is donated by local restaurants including Memphis Taproom. Beer donated by Philadelphia Brewing Company (a community partner of Walking Fish Theatre). Raffle prizes will also be available. Call the box office at 215-427-9255 for more details. Walking Fish Theatre is located at 2509 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
