Touchstone Theatre brings original work to the holiday stage

After a successful run with their ’08-’09 season opener Shipwrecked! by Donald Margulies, the Ensemble of Touchstone Theatre once again prepares to take the stage. Christmas City Follies IX will light up the holiday season in its ninth installment beginning with a Preview Performance on December 3 at 8:00pm on the South Side of Bethlehem.

The vaudeville formatted, holiday-themed show consists of music, mask, storytelling and sketches that include the renowned Shopping Cart Ballet, Special Guest Appearances by local business and community leaders including the Mayor’s of both Allentown and Bethlehem, and visits from popular characters such as the Pajama Sisters, the Old Guy, and Antonio Amore. James P. Jordan, Ensemble Member, will make his Touchstone directorial debut supported by Apprentice Emma Chong, Stage Manager and Assistant Director. Cora Hook, local artist and former Touchstone Ensemble Member returns to Touchstone’s stage and joins the Follies IX cast. Also appearing this year are Apprentices: Adam Kissinger, Jana Ross, and David Wrigley, Ensemble Associate Tom Christian and Ensemble Members Bill George and Vicki Haller.

Christmas City Follies IX runs December 4 through December 21, with a Preview on December 3. It is a family show running approximately ninety minutes in length with one intermission. Curtain is at 8:00pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm. Regular admission is $20 with $18 tickets available for students and seniors. Group rates for ten or more may also be purchased. On Preview Night and Thursday evenings, Touchstone offers “Pay what you will at the door,” where audience members buying their tickets that night at the theatre may set their own price.
