The mission of the Delaware Theatre Company is to create theatre of the highest professional quality in Delaware and thereby enrich the vitality of the area through artistic programming, education, and community service.

Description
Delaware Theatre Company is the Brandywine Valley's only resident professional theatre. The annual season of plays includes a mix of the classics as well as contemporary and new works for the stage and brings noted professional actors, directors, and designers to the region from New York and beyond. Under the leadership of Producing Director Anne Marie Cammarato, DTC has developed into one of the region's leading cultural institutions, boasting an annual audience of approximately 40,000 and active and prominent 36-member Board of Directors, and a current operating budget of over $2 million. DTC is also a leader in the community's plans to revitalize Wilmington's waterfront and to develop a master cultural tourism plan for the Brandywine Valley. DTC's award-winning educational programs include the Delaware Young Playwrights Festival, theatre classes for children and adults and a summer theatre camp. DTC is nationally recognized for its innovative programs which use theatre to combat teen addictions and the spread of HIV/AIDS among adolescents, and for creating specialized programs for at-risk children who are mentally challenged, hearing impaired, chronically ill, autistic, incarcerated, and those who live in group homes. At the 1999 Barrymore Awards ceremony, Delaware Theatre Company received the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News Award for Excellence in Theatre Education and Community Service. Delaware Theatre Company is a member of the League of Resident Theatres, Theatre Communications Group, Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, and the Arts Consortium of Delaware.
